Letters, Sept. 5, 2024: ‘Trudeau lost his only friend’

Article content

Trudeau keeps saying his mantra “we’re here for Canadians,” but Canadians don’t want Trudeau. The Liberals have had crisis after crisis and countless scandals after scandals. Trudeau even ignored those in his own party asking for him to step down, so the Liberals could benefit from the renewal process of a leadership campaign. Now that the Liberals’ only friend, the NDP, have said they even can’t stand the Liberals anymore, it is too late for Trudeau to leave as this Liberal government will fall in the first vote of confidence in the House. The only issue that unites every Canadian now is that Trudeau must go!

(It’s likely the NDP will continue to prop up the Liberals until an election is called in 2025)

We don’t need Nenshi

One of the reasons Calgary is again on Level 4 water restrictions is because of our previous city council, led by the one and only Naheed Nenshi. In all his years as Calgary mayor, he and his council put little effort in infrastructure repairs and concerns, particularly to our water source connectivity. He was more concerned about a failed money-sucking Green Line project and millions of dollars spent on ridiculous art structures around the city like the Blue Ring. And this is the man who wants to become premier of this province under the flag of the NDP, who, as a party, have ruined every jurisdiction they’ve held power in. Is this the kind of man you want leading your province to certain oblivion?

(NDP policies are seldom the answer.)

Missed the boat

Back in June, rational Calgarians understood that the entire 11-km Bowness pipeline needed to  be replaced, not just repaired. Was a plan in place? No! Was the plan for a secondary feeder line available? Yes! Ten years ago, but the plan was rejected and money wasted in favour of an overpriced library, an Olympic bid no one wanted, useless artwork and an overpriced Green Line that will never be built.

(One would hope our water supply would take precedence over pretty much everything.)

Hard pass on mandatory EVs

I heard the Volkswagen battery plant in St. Thomas, Ont., is going to start pouring concrete. Road rehabilitation in and around St. Thomas has been going for some time now. Billions of taxpayers’ money wasted all across Canada for climate change that’s been happening for thousands of years. Pfft! Trudeau’s EV mandate will never fly by 2035, it’s delusional at best. There is no infrastructure to support this B.S.! What happens when you try to charge millions of vehicles at the same time? Puff puff pass!

ROY BANMAN

(It’s a policy Trudeau seemed to latch onto because it was announced in the U.S. No real thought and planning has gone into it — just more pronouncements from a PM who is well beyond his best-before date.)
