Fun to watch

I watched a bit of the U.S. election just to see the sad faces of the MSM realize their choice lost. Trump is a blowhard and an a–, but he voices what the regular Americans are feeling. The far left is in second place and sanity may come back to society. The world did not collapse the last time he was president and it will not this time, either. The media in Canada saying we are doomed just mean that in our election, sanity will replace the extreme left ideology that rules us. So long Liberals/NDP.

DEBRA TOWNROW

(The breadth of the victory was pretty shocking.)

Minister talk-a-lot

I watched CTV’s Power Play the other day, and poor Vassy Kapelos couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Mark Holland, the minister of heath, had a really bad case of diarrhea of the mouth. I was amazed he didn’t turn blue from lack of oxygen. If he is under the impression this is the way to “win friends and influence people,” he is delusional. I even had the infantile compulsion to throw my shoe at the TV. Someone should teach him some manners; interrupting someone constantly or talking over them is outright rude. Too bad she wasn’t able to turn off his mic or tell him to stuff a sock in it. My irritation completely overrode any message he was attempting to convey.

BETTY-ANNE TREMBLAY

(Often the people talking loudest are least worth listening to.)

Railing against rail

Letter to the provincial government: Instead of spending billions on high-speed rail, use the money to upgrade the highways in this province. Alberta does not have the population to support high-speed rail. Four lanes each way from Calgary to Edmonton. Get rid of the death-trap range road intersections with proper interchanges. Four lanes to Fort Mac, and four lanes on #3 to the B.C. border. Put proper rest stops every 60 km far enough away from the highway to keep everyone safe.

ANDY HANSEN

(Sounds like you’ve given it some thought.)

No movement

I’m wondering why no NDP MLA has stepped down to give their elected leader a seat? Seems odd to me. In addition, are taxpayers paying wages for someone who is not a sworn MLA? His money should be coming from the NDP, otherwise taxpayers are paying for one person more than was elected.

RUSSELL WORKUN

(Good questions.)
