Letters, Nov. 30, 2024: ‘Don’t fall for it, Canada!’

Let’s hope Canadians are not going to fall for Trudeau’s latest bribe in an attempt to buy votes with taxpayers’ money. He will give some Canadians a little, and then slap them with another huge increase in April with his useless carbon tax. As Trudeau sees his Liberal party slide down the toilet under his leadership, he will do anything to stay in power. It is scary to think how much more damage he will do to our country before he is finally history.

(It is pretty transparent.)

Some Christmas gift

Tossing around our tax dollars for vote-buying is a time-tested ploy when the ship is sinking. We’ll have to borrow more and dig our hole deeper. Just shows how out of touch the Messiah is! Besides that $6.3-billion Christmas gift, could fund another EV plant to replace the Northvolt plant in Quebec that’s sinking as fast as this government’s popularity. What would make more sense, scrapping the double dip on Justin’s beloved carbon tax through the coldest months of our winter (December-March). Gotta love the ol’ tax-on-a-tax shell game! I may add, if you’re making six figures, you don’t need $250 sock-boy bucks. Why not lower that ceiling to people making under $75K, and include seniors on a fixed budget. A trained seal could make better decisions than these dum-dums! All I want for Christmas is a wrapped-up ballot box and the election that goes with it!

(We wouldn’t hold our breath on that one.)

Trump might be the smart one

While I would hate to see huge tariffs hurt our economy, Trump is right. Our border security sucks. The current government ties the hands of border enforcement agencies with its non-existent immigration policies and the catch-and-release system for gun runners, terrorists and drug dealers. It’s a shame that Trump has to be the one to point the obvious out to Trudeau. It’s a sad state for Canada when Trudeau makes Trump look like ‘The Smart One.’

MARK YATES

(For too long, Trudeau’s border policy has been too lax. It’s unfortunate the threat of tariffs is on the table, but it may get the Liberals to finally act)

Hit the U.S. with tariffs

Canada should add a 50% surcharge to the oil and gas tariff that Trump wants to impose. The U.S.A. imports more oil and gas from Canada than all the other countries in the world that they import from and all the U.S. refineries can only refine our heavier products. They have to buy our oil and gas. Hit him at the gas pump — that will get the Americans mad and cancel his tariffs.

(Canada needs to at least demonstrate we are making an effort, which is in our best interest)
