Come on! Our PM continues to be caught with his pants down. Trans Mountain — great job on costs. Only a government can manage a project like that. Petroleum emissions — we need petroleum. Election interference and Liberal actions — it does not matter that overall results were not impacted, results in ridings are what counts. Doublespeak on the part of the PM, and NDP actions help to tighten the belt and hold up the pants.

GEORGE EWERT
(The NDP seem content to prop him up, but that might come back to bite them in the end.)
Sorry law
When did dislike become hate? “I don’t like you but if I say so, I could be charged with a hate crime.” The Scots have endured jokes about their so-called thrift (even extending to the now-defunct Canadian Tire money) and their accent/brogue (Rrroll Up the Rim), but as a Scot, I can say that we rarely took offence. However, we live in a world of sanitized emotions where it seems as though everyone is hypersensitive and ready to lodge a complaint on the grounds of discrimination or the now-popular hate-crime law. The new hate-crime law in Scotland has gone to new extremes and is either being ridiculed by the more level-headed or is tying up the police emergency phone lines. The Scot Squad comedic episode “The Chief Apologizes” (where the chief of police apologizes to groups he has offended) has been widely downloaded since the new law was introduced. As per usual, we can expect Canada to follow suit. Like something out of a George Orwell novel, the last sanctuary for individuals to freely express their feelings without fear of punishment is in their minds … well at least for now, until the next advance in AI.
ALLAN LEGGATE
(The best hope is the next government gets rid of any notion of such crazy laws)
No picnic
So a poll shows people hope to go on a vacation this summer. Even with financial pressures.
I guarantee that Trudeau and his elites are not worrying. His carbon tax and other taxes only affect lower income. These people will not get a chance to destress.
CURTIS RADCLIFFE
(As Billy Joel said, ‘Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighbourhood.’)
