Do you know what irks me these days besides Citizen Trump?
World countries, corporations and businesses are still putting in place sanctions against Putin’s Russia.
Every single sanction should have now been all used up to squeeze the living daylights out of this tyrant because for over two years, Russia has been murdering innocent Ukrainians and destroying their country.

(That it’s time for him to go is, seemingly, something we can all agree on.)
Hello, goodbye
This ongoing tug-of-war between Gondek and Smith reminds me of that classic Beatles song from 1967, Hello, Goodbye.
In context to this feud, you (Jyoti) say hello and I (Danielle) say goodbye. It’s pretty much a safe bet this tug-of-war will be non-existent after the 2025 civic elections roll into Calgary on Oct. 20 of the same year.
Then, it really will be a ‘hello’ to the new mayor and a ‘goodbye’ to the outgoing mayor.

(Assuming, of course, the time between now and the next election Can’t Buy Her Love. Calgary may wake up the next morning and see her standing there. Too much? OK … we’ll Let It Be.)
Give us our country back
Re “Grocers must adapt” (Sylvain Charlebois, Feb. 24):
With respect, I believe ‘Government must adapt.’
Prices have risen as a direct result of government spending. True, the pandemic contributed to the largesse. But a 40% bigger federal civil service comes with a price tag.
Stephen Harper skillfully marshalled our economy through the 2008 recession.
We should vote for governments that: Cut taxes (eliminate the climate tax and the gas tax), reduce corporate taxes and the GST, and lower income tax.
Eliminate trade restrictions between provinces. Eliminate the dairy and poultry cartels. Reduce regulations on business and industry to encourage more competition.
“Sustained higher food price inflation” is not acceptable for a wealthy nation like Canada.
Give us back our country and we will thrive, thank you very much.
