Give an accountant a set of numbers and he’ll produce financial statements. Give a really good accountant a set of numbers and tell him what you want them to say, and he’ll do it! I’ve done both the former and the latter. When dilettantes like Justin Trudeau claim 80% of families would get more in rebate than they pay, don’t believe it. I reviewed the last three years’ worth of our utility bills. Here’s what I’ve found: There is no negligible change in the usage of natural gas, electricity and water. However, the prices all increased. Why? Mostly tax. The next time a politician makes a broad statement regarding the carbon tax, just say, “Prove it!”

Thanks, Karen
Yesterday I was at Rockyview hospital visiting my wife in ICU. This Karen walked past me and my PTSD service dog. She said, ‘I didn’t know they allowed dogs in the hospital.’ I said he is my service dog. She then said, ‘I thought they needed to be wearing a vest.’ I said he is. He is not a dog for the visually impaired. People need to mind their own business.

Does Trudeau get it?
Re: “No more Mr. Popular” (The Canadian Press, March 15). Well, finally Justin Trudeau gets it. He says he’s not popular with most Canadians because of his carbon tax. A eureka moment, for sure.

(It’s not just the carbon tax. This disdain for Trudeau has come after years of terrible management of Canada and repeated international embarrassments.)
Oh, the irony
Trudeau must have been absent the day they taught irony. In defending his massively unpopular carbon tax, he criticized short-sighted politicians who make easy decisions at the expense of future generations. Really? Something like how Liberals have managed the finance portfolio after inheriting a balanced budget in 2015. Please, somebody give him a mirror.
