Gold mettle
Re: “What did byelection loss teach Grits? Probably nothing” (Lorrie Goldstein, June 27): The Liberals believe Canadians do not understand and appreciate all the good things the Liberals have done for us. Why would we understand? We are not as smart as the ruling elite. The Liberals say they are going to listen to Canadians. They should have been doing that over the last nine years. But again, why listen to people who are not as smart as you? Chrystia Freeland implied the Liberals are going to do more of the same because they still have work to do. Most Canadians would say the Liberal Party has done enough to Canada. The Liberals believe the economy was the major reason for their loss. People have myriad reasons for voting against them: The arrogance of Trudeau, immigration policy failures, the failure to deal with foreign interference, their position on Israel, the carbon tax, a disastrous daycare policy, large public debt, new capital gain tax, gun legislation, ethics, and many others. Liberal incompetence is being highlighted in almost everything they touch. Canadians are beginning to pay attention. We paid attention in the last two elections when Trudeau did not win the popular vote. Those results did not teach them anything. Lorrie Goldstein is bang on.

Fall from grace
Justin Trudeau and his obedient ministers are twisting themselves into knots trying to put the best possible spin on their catastrophic byelection loss. They promise to listen and work harder for Canadians after this learning experience. Trust us and everything will be great, Justin seems to be saying. Reminds me of a man falling from the top of a skyscraper yelling, “So far, so good” as he passes each floor on the way down.

Deeply worried for Canada
I love this country, but I am deeply worried about its direction. Being an immigrant, I used to be proud of our inclusion and acceptance of all and sundry. When I applied for immigration, I was subjected to a plethora of conditions and swore an oath to live the Canadian way. But what is that now? I pay taxes to support those who can work but do not want to. I pay more taxes to support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s reckless spending on programs that are not only wasteful but also useless. There seems to be no end to the arrogance and ignorance of our Liberal government. When all is said and done, its plump pensions and trust funds will support it very nicely, whilst we, the victims, will suffer forever. Mr. Trudeau, please just stop this vain insanity.
