The Trudeau government is all about personal entitlements and total hypocrisy. Scant weeks ago Health Minister Mark Holland chastised Canadians by equating family road trips with destroying the planet. Yet he had no problem flying to Paris to see the Olympics. Trudeau talks about the existential threat of climate change while leading the G7 leaders in kilometres travelled. The arrogance of Trudeau and his ministers, and their utter disdain for those they serve, are wearing thin as polls are showing.

Sad story
It was disappointing to read Orest Slepokura’s letter calling Algerian boxer Imane Khelif a man. Khelif has been competing in Olympic boxing for years, passing all gender testing. But ever since she beat a Russian boxer in 2023, she has been targeted by a disinformation campaign headed by the president of the IBA. Then transphobes on social media ran with the story without any evidence. Bigotry hollows out not only your humanity, but also your critical thinking skills.

We’ll always have Paris
Such a pleasure to watch athletes from around the world competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. So much dedication to their sport accomplishing moves that seem impossible to perfect. Their amazing feats in the air, water and on the track seem effortless but have taken years of gruelling and constant practice to perfect. The athletes’ unselfish efforts and dedication to their sport should be an example to all world leaders that through hard work and political efforts a lasting peace worldwide can be won.
