May At McMahon Is Jam-Packed With Events

There are plenty of notable Calgary Stampeders events in the month of May as the 2024 Canadian Football League season gets under way.

Rookie training camp kicks off on May 8, setting the stage for a series of save-the-date affairs over the remainder of the month:

These include:

Jr. Stamps Camp (Saturday, May 11)

The Stampeders rookies will run a large and enthusiastic group of youngsters through a series of football drills on the McMahon Stadium turf. General manager and head coach Dave Dickenson will give the kids a pep talk before the fun gets under way. Each registrant will get a swag bag that includes a Jr. Stamps Camp T-shirt.

Fanfest (Saturday, May 18)

Attractions of this popular event include interactive football skill tests, giant inflatables, a photo opportunity with the Grey Cup, live DJ music and a chance to meet and get autographs from Stampeders players. Ralph the Dog, the Outriders dance and cheer team and the hype squad will be on hand, too. Fans will hear from team president Jay McNeil and general manager and head coach Dave Dickenson and get a sneak peek at new food and beverage offerings at McMahon this season.

Red & White game (Sunday, May 19)

The Stampeders players get their first test in game-like conditions, with the offence pitted against the defence as well as special-teams situations. In addition to the action between the white lines, there will be a live DJ on site to provide musical entertainment prior to the game and a post-game BBQ for Forever Red members following the contest. Ralph the Dog and members of the Outriders dance team will be on hand.

Pre-season game (Saturday, May 25)

It’s a 2 p.m. kickoff at McMahon as the Stampeders play host to the BC Lions in their pre-season opener as the players bid for a spot on the Red and White’s 2024 roster. Prior to kickoff, starting at 12:30 p.m. in the east parking lot, the Fan Zone will be active with a live DJ, games and autographs.
