Police investigate after 2 people found dead in east Calgary home

Calgary police are investigating the discovery of two people dead in a home on the city’s east side on Sunday.

Acting Insp. Mike Shute with the Calgary Police Service said they were called to the home on Penswood Way Southeast shortly before noon.

“Calgary police received a check on welfare call from family members,” Shute said Sunday.

He said two people were found dead inside the home.

“This is an ongoing investigation for a suspicious death,” Shute said.

“It’s an ongoing investigation at this point in time. Events are unfolding as we speak.”

A small child was inside the home when police arrived. Shute said the child, whose age is not known, was reunited with other family members.

One animal was also taken out of the house, according to Shute.

Several police vehicles remained at the scene Sunday afternoon.

No further information has been released by police.
