A grass fire that was spotted in Rocky View County on Thursday evening is now being held, a spokesperson for the municipal district confirmed to Global News.
The fire was located near Springbank Heights Drive and Springbank Heights Way, Cochrane RCMP said in a news release.
Fire crews will continue to work through the night to extinguish any hot spots.
“The fire’s location on a forested hillside made ground efforts challenging, but air support was successfully used to prevent the spread. Fire protection remains in place for nearby homes,” read a statement posted on the Rocky View County website.
It said the Alberta Forest Protection Services and fire departments from Springbank, Bearspaw, Elbow Valley, Cochrane, Calgary, and Redwood Meadows all worked to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.
