Super Bowl tickets cost triple average monthly rent in Canada

It’s no surprise that Super Bowl tickets are expensive.

But how pricey are they?

Fans wishing to attend the February 9 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans can buy tickets right now for no cheaper than US$4,200. That’s over $6,000 in Canadian funds.

For reference, Canadians paid an average of $2,187 in rent last year.

And plenty of tickets in the upper bowls are going for more than C$8,500.

Someone even listed their tickets for US$55,000, which is over $79,000 in Canadian funds.

The cheapest lower-bowl tickets on Ticketmaster are listed for US$15,000 (that’s over C$21,000).

As expensive as these prices are, they’re actually cheaper than last year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Roughly a week before last year’s game, CNN reported that the lowest price for available tickets was more than C$10,000. The average price to get in at that time was approximately $14,300.

Chiefs searching for three-peat

Super Bowl LIX is a rematch from two years ago when the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35 in the championship game.

The Chiefs are looking to make NFL history this time around, as the first team to ever win three consecutive Super Bowl titles. Patrick Mahomes and company defeated the San Francisco 49ers last year in overtime for the Chiefs’ second-straight Lombardi Trophy.

Should Mahomes lead the Chiefs to victory again, the 29-year-old would tie Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana for the second-most Super Bowl rings among all quarterbacks in NFL history. Tom Brady sits atop the list with seven.
