A Canadian ski destination was recently blessed with the presence of Olympic royalty as Shaun White has been in BC enjoying the fresh winter snow.
However, the three-time Olympic gold medalist was in for a treat himself as White encountered a rare meteorological phenomenon while snowboarding that left him stunned.
“I can’t believe we saw this… Someone please explain the science behind this,” White wrote in the caption of a TikTok video seen by hundreds of thousands of his followers.

Many people chimed in with their theories about what the mysterious lights on the mountain were.
“Bro found the portal to Agartha,” read one comment.
“That’s where the quest location is,” added another.
Lexie Walker, a meteorologist in Texas, explained to the five-time Olympian that what he was seeing was called sundogs.
“Basically the sunlight refracts through the ice crystals in the air and boom,” wrote Walker.
A New York meteorologist confirmed the phenomenon on Instagram.
“It’s a Sun Dog! It happens when sunlight passes through ice crystals in the atmosphere, bending the light and creating this halo-like effect,” commented Angie Lassman.
Fans were equally astounded by the White’s video of the sundog, with one comment reading, “Every time I see some weird nature phenomena video, I realize why our ancestors believed in big people in the sky with cool powers.”
It is not clear which BC ski destination White is currently at, though another recent video shows a CMH Heli-Skiing chopper lifting off above “The Flying Tomato.”
