People lined up for 12 hours to check out Calgary’s first Chick-fil-A

The hype for Chick-fil-A’s first Calgary location is real! Many Calgarians were so eager to get their first taste that they were willing to line up for hours.

The Georgia-based chain, known for its signature chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and Chick-fil-A sauce, opened doors at its new outpost on Macleod Trail at 10 am on Thursday, November 7.

However, diners who were among the first in line told Dished they had actually started queuing a whopping 12 hours beforehand.

When Dished arrived around 9:45 am, the line was the length of one exterior wall of the restaurant, and within 15 minutes, it had doubled back on itself. That wasn’t even to mention the long line of cars waiting patiently to access the drive-thru.

However, when doors finally opened at 10 am, diners were quickly led inside to place their orders. Food was served pretty quickly despite the volume of customers visiting.

After opening its first Alberta location at West Edmonton Mall this summer, Chick-fil-A plans to expand rapidly across the province. A second Edmonton outpost is poised to open this year, and the chain plans to open 20 locations in Alberta by 2030.

If you don’t fancy waiting in line, Chick-fil-A’s Macleod Trail outpost will be open from 10:30 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday.
