More snow, then a dazzling temperature swing hitting Calgary soon

Calgary has been blanketed by snow this week, and it looks to remain that way as we head into the weekend.

However, your snow shovel might catch a break early next week with a dramatic temperature change in the forecast.

A snowfall warning was issued for Calgary at the beginning of this week, and it seems that we will see even more snow this weekend.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting periods of snow throughout the weekend. There will be chances of flurries today, and snowfall will hit Calgary tomorrow and then start to slow down on Saturday.

Make sure to wear plenty of layers this weekend, as the snow will bring chilly temperatures, with daytime highs of -13ºC on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

ECCC

Temperatures will drop to a staggering -18ºC on Sunday night before Calgarians see a sudden shift into sunny skies and warmer temperatures from Monday onward.

In just two days, the temperature will swing back up from the low on Sunday night to 0ºC during the day on Tuesday, with plenty of sunny skies complementing the (relatively) warmer weather.

However, ECCC still forecasts cold temperatures throughout the evenings of early next week, with overnight lows of -10ºC on Monday night and -7ºC on Tuesday evening.

Even with the predicted jump, temperatures will remain below freezing throughout the following days. So remember to bundle up!
