MAGA-hat wearing Wayne Gretzky attends official Donald Trump victory party

President-elect Donald Trump still seems to have a big fan in the NHL’s all-time leading scorer.

Wayne Gretzky made an appearance at Mar-A-Lago this week, showing his support for  Trump after the presidential election and appearing in a photo alongside his family.

Larry Glick, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, also shared this flick with Gretzky, who was spotted wearing a white “Make America Great Again” hat.

Gretzky was born in Brantford, Ontario, and spent his first 27 years of life in Canada. However, after being traded to the Los Angeles Kings from the Edmonton Oilers in 1988, Gretzky has maintained a residence in the United States for the past 36 years and is a dual citizen.

Gretzky’s support of Trump isn’t particularly shocking. During Trump’s first presidential run in 2015, Gretzky was spotted shaking hands with Trump at a New Jersey golf course while he golfed a round with his son-in-law, PGA pro Dustin Johnson, at one of Trump’s courses in 2020.

Gretzky has previously endorsed conservative Canadian political candidates, including Stephen Harper for Prime Minister in 2015 and now-Brampton mayor Patrick Brown in 2014 for the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership campaign.

Gretzky — and his son-in-law — were a few of the sports figures at the event. UFC president Dana White and golf star Bryson DeChambeau were also in attendance. White was brought up on stage by Trump to share a few words in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

“Nobody deserves this more than him, and nobody deserves this more than his family does,” White said of Trump. “This is what happens when the machine comes after you, what you’ve seen over the last several years. This is what it looks like. Couldn’t stop him, he keeps going forward, he doesn’t quit, he’s the most resilient, hard-working man I’ve ever met in my life.”

Trump is currently projected to win 291 electoral votes, while Harris is projected to pick up 222. Arizona and Nevada have yet to be called by most major networks, with 17 electoral votes still up for grabs.
