Lucky Canadian instantly $1 million richer after Lotto 6/49 lottery win

Winter just became that much cheerier for one Canadian lottery player who’ll soon be celebrating a life-changing prize.

The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Wednesday, January 15. The Gold Ball jackpot was worth $18 million at the time. No one won the top prize; however, someone will win the White Ball prize.

PlayNow.com says someone in Canada became $1 million richer after matching the winning number 56502808-02. The winning ticket was sold in Ontario.

The Classic Draw winning numbers were 04, 17, 21, 32, 33, 49, and bonus 28. However, no one won the $5 million top prize or the second prize, worth $191,269.90. The third prize will be split between 70 people who matched five of the six winning numbers. Each will receive $1,147.40.

The Classic Draw Extra winning numbers were 11, 54, 71, and 73, but no one in BC won the $500,000 prize. Similarly, in Ontario, no one matched the Encore number 2638859 to win the $1 million prize.

The last time someone won the Lotto 6/49 prize was December 28, 2024. According to PlayNow, someone in Alberta matched the winning numbers 35353629-01, taking home the incredible lottery jackpot of $54 million. Read the results of that draw here.

The next Lotto 6/49 draw is scheduled for Saturday, January 18. The Gold Ball prize is worth $20 million, and there are now 25 balls left.
