A lottery winner in Alberta says she recently moved to the province to be closer to her sister, and we’re sure it’s a move she doesn’t regret after landing a $5,000,000 jackpot in December.
Raquel Wint told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) that she was checking her Lotto 6/49 tickets online and was surprised her numbers matched the selection for December 14.
“I called my sister because I wasn’t sure what to do,” she said. “We went to the store to check it together!”
Wint says at first she thought she had won the massive $48 million prize; however, while checking her ticket in-store, she realized it was the Classic Draw and was immediately thrilled.
Wint said she already knows what she will do with her exciting new windfall.
“I’m putting it into savings for my kids’ future,” she said. “But I’m really excited to finally buy my dream house so my kids can each have their own bedroom.”
Wint explained she recently moved to Alberta to be close to her sister.
“It’s just perfect timing,” she said. “I’m so grateful and I’m still in shock.”
“I can help my family and invest the rest,” she smiled. “I’m also looking at a nice new car for myself!”
Wint purchased her winning Lotto 6/49 ticket from 7-Eleven at 6502 50th Street in Beaumont. She won her prize by matching the selection on Lotto 6/49’s Classic Draw on December 14: 3, 4, 13, 16, 27, and 43.
