Longtime anchor Jocelyn Laidlaw not returning to CTV Calgary

After more than two decades with CTV News Calgary, a longtime journalist in our city has announced she will not be returning to the anchor desk.

Jocelyn Laidlaw announced on her X account late Thursday night that after 21 years with the company, she was one of the many employees who were laid off earlier this year by Bell Media.

In her post, Laidlaw stated “Many of you have asked me when I’ll be returning to the anchor desk. I am now able to share with you that, after 21 years at CTV Calgary, I will not be returning. I am among the Bell employees impacted by restructuring earlier this year.”

Laidlaw added that she was grateful for her time on the anchor desk in Calgary and that she looks forward to a “new chapter.”

She took a leave from her post in November 2022 after she was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer, undergoing rounds of treatment in the months that followed, and currently has no evidence of disease (NED).

Earlier this year, Laidlaw was announced as Colorectal Cancer Canada’s National Ambassador.
