Kinton Ramen is set to open 12 Alberta locations in the next five years

Toronto-based Kinton Ramen is set to expand into Alberta in a major way, with two Calgary stores in the works.

The brand, which is known for its authentic Japanese ramen and casual dining experience, has signed an Area Representative Agreement with The Labreche Group to open 12 Kinton Ramen outposts in Alberta over the next five years.

Karalyn White, senior director of franchising at Kinka Family, the restaurant group behind Kinton Ramen, told Dished that while the majority of those will be in Calgary and Edmonton, spots including Banff and Red Deer will also be targeted.

White said six franchise agreements had been signed in the province so far, and two leases for locations in Calgary have already been secured.

It’s exciting news for those in the south and Mission neighbourhoods: Kinton Ramen will open stores at South Trail Crossing — 4307 130 Avenue SE and 1904 4th Street SW — in 2025.

Kinka Family is also actively seeking out more franchises to join the group. It already has outposts in Ontario, BC, Quebec, New York and Illinois.

Developed by Chef Aki Urata, Kinton Ramen uses only the freshest ingredients to create top-quality noodles and broths.
