How Canadians can get a refund from space heaters recalled due to fire hazard

If you usually use space heaters in the winter months, you might want to check if yours is part of a new nationwide recall.

Health Canada has issued a recall notice on GoveeLife and Govee Smart Electric space heaters due to fire and burn hazard.

“The products can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards,” reads the alert posted on Thursday.

According to the agency, as of October 28, 2024, the company has received seven reports of overheating in Canada, and no report of injuries.

In the United States, the company has received 106 reports of overheating and one report of a minor burn injury.

The brand has reported approximately 48,584 space heaters sold in Canada, and around 512,500 were sold in the US.
