A dangerous person alert has been issued for Calgary and the surrounding area concerning a suspect police believe to be involved in a double homicide over the weekend.
The double homicide occurred on Sunday in the communities of Kincora and Tuscany, when at approximately 9:30 pm, police responded to the 0 to 100 block of Kincora Grove NW for reports of a person in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a man in his 70s deceased.
As officers continued to investigate, a second victim, who is believed to be the deceased man’s daughter, a woman in her 30s, was located deceased in the 300 block of Tuscany Ridge Heights NW, at approximately 11:15 pm.
Police say there is no risk to the public as both deaths are believed to be targeted and domestic in nature.
Police are searching for 38-year-old Benedict Kaminski. He is described as approximately six feet tall, with brown and grey hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a grey, red and white shirt.
The Alberta Emergency Alert issued at 12:13 pm in relation to the incident added that Kaminski is armed with a firearm.
He is believed to be travelling in a black 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with Alberta license plate CLN 5276, with police sharing a stock photo of the suspect’s vehicle, pictured below.
Police believe Kaminski could be in northwest Calgary or near the Bearspaw area.
Residents in the communities of Bearspaw, Rocky Ridge, Tuscany, and surrounding areas are asked to be on the alert. Do not open the door to strangers, and if you see the suspect, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.
Anyone with information about this incident or who knows Kaminski’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
