An American TikToker’s trip to Walmart Canada has sparked a wave of reactions online as she marvelled at the differences between the Canadian and US stores.
Content creator Ashley shares videos of her travel experiences on her channel, @ashleytravels715. In one clip, she walks around a Walmart in Canada, amazed by the differences between the store and those in the US.
One of the things that catches her attention is the Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs, which she emphasizes several times are illegal in the US. However, one main difference that she points out is the different fonts and colours used for signs at Walmart Canada.
“I’m kind of creeped out. I’m in a Walmart in Canada, and everything is in, like, a different font, and I don’t know how to feel,” she says.
She then adds, “The vibes are just weird in here. It’s like, this is a Walmart? And the crazier part is the outside is even weirder looking.”
The video certainly got people talking and currently has 3.5 million views.

Viewers are divided about the differences between Walmart stores in the US and Canada. Some Canadians pointed out that, apart from selling guns at US stores, Walmarts look very similar on both sides of the border.
“I went to an American Walmart, and honestly, it felt about the same,” wrote one viewer. “Was surprised at the fact there’s more stuff and guns, but other than that, I dunno. It still felt like Walmart.”
Another said, “As a Canadian, I went to an American Walmart, and it’s honestly the same but more blue and 10 times bigger. Oh, and not much variety of chips and also guns.”
“What’s her deal?” someone asked. “Canadian and American Walmart are literally the same.”
One commenter stated, “That’s how I feel going into an American Walmart as a Canadian.”
After numerous requests from viewers, Ashley followed up with a video of a Walmart store in Florida.

“First of all, peep the signs: black and white,” she says. “We don’t do your red and yellow motif. Lots of blue, lots more blue than you guys have. And our clothes section is actually pretty legit. We do have some fun styles, but the signs are just different. It’s in a different font.”
She jokes that the stores practically have their own zip codes because they’re “freaking ginormous.”
After comparing Walmart stores in both countries, she concludes, “Again. Same, same, but different. So there you go, Canadians. United States Walmart, you’re welcome. Ours is better, sorry.”
One commenter stated, “So much better. I agree (from a Canadian).”
However, most netizens felt that there wasn’t much of a difference.
“It’s really not that different. At least not enough to be so shocked or confused about,” one pointed out.
One viewer wrote, “That was… literally exactly the same.”
While some agreed that US Walmart stores are better, some defended Walmart Canada.
“Ya, no. I prefer the red signs because it’s more eye-catching than boring black,” one person wrote. “Plus, it looks more gloomy inside.”
“I’m a Canadian (Saskatchewan), and I was in Minot, North Dakota, a few months ago, and the only difference I found was it seemed dingier than ours,” one viewer observed. “We’re definitely getting more ‘blue’ with our renos, but to me, Canada’s just seemed brighter and cleaner.”
For others, the comparison felt personal.
“I don’t know why, but this, like, hurt my feelings. I felt personally bullied for being Canadian, lol,” stated one commenter.
Someone else asked, “Like, what’s wrong with our vibes?”
