After teasing it yesterday, the CFL announced this morning that the 2026 Grey Cup will be hosted at McMahon Stadium, the home of the Calgary Stampeders.
It will serve as the 113th Grey Cup in CFL history and is set to take place on Sunday, November 26.
“We’re beyond thrilled to bring the Grey Cup back to Calgary in 2026,” said CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “And of course, we’re most excited for Canadian football fans everywhere. Whether you’re from the East Coast and you’ve never experienced the Grey Cup or you’re Calgarian and this will be your 50th, we can’t wait for you to see what’s in store. We were blown away by the Stampeders’ bid and we look forward to seeing their incredible vision transformed into reality.”
This will serve as Calgary’s sixth time hosting the Grey Cup — the others took place in 1975, 1993, 2000, 2009, and, most recently, 2019. To date, the Stampeders have never played in a Grey Cup at McMahon Stadium.
“We thank the CFL, the Board of Governors and Commissioner Randy Ambrosie for this opportunity,” Stampeders president Jay McNeil said. “We also thank our partners at the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and Tourism Calgary for their support in this endeavour and we look forward to working together to host a spectacular Grey Cup.”
The Grey Cup game serves as more than just a one-day event, as it always includes a week-long festival that features plenty of entertainment for fans, regardless of age.
This year’s Grey Cup is less than two weeks away, scheduled to be played on Sunday, November 17 at BC Place. We’ll soon learn who is playing in the prestigious event, as all four remaining teams will be in action tomorrow. The Toronto Argonauts will take on the Montreal Alouettes at 1 pm MT, while the Saskatchewan Roughriders will face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 4:30 pm.
The Stampeders missed the playoffs entirely this season, finishing with a record of 5-12-1. While frustrating, the down year could lead to plenty of good times moving forward, as they are set to pick first overall at the 2025 CFL draft next spring.
