Another brand of cucumbers is being recalled in some Canadian provinces due to possible salmonella contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall notice for Pamela brand cucumbers sold from October 12 to November 29, 2024.
Cucumbers may have been sold loose or in bulk, may or may not feature a brand name and may be labelled “Produce of Mexico.”
Impacted products are believed to have mainly been distributed in Alberta and BC but could be found in other Canadian provinces or territories.
According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by one in another country, and no illnesses related to consuming the cucumbers have been reported in Canada. However, the CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation and is currently verifying that all recalled products have been removed from the marketplace.
The latest recall follows a consumer advisory notice from the CFIA which detailed a recall from Baloian Farms of Arizona Co. on its whole fresh American cucumbers. The recall affected cucumbers packaged in a “Pamela” brand bulk cardboard container, a box with a sticker with the implicated grower’s name, “Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.,” or a clear “PamPak” brand bag of six cucumbers with the UPC 8 25401 07010 6.
Last week, a separate recall notice was issued for SunFed brand cucumbers that were sold across multiple Canadian provinces.
