An Edmonton man got the surprise of a lifetime when he discovered he’d won $1 million on a lottery ticket earlier this fall.
Oludare Taiwo first thought he won $1,000 after checking his ticket online.
“I buy super packs usually,” he explained. “In the morning when I woke up, I checked my tickets on my phone, and then I double-checked in store later that afternoon!”
When Taiwo realized he’d won far more than expected, he was in disbelief.
“I went through each number on the website to compare,” he said. “I was like, ‘Wow!’ I couldn’t believe it.”
With his new windfall, Taiwo plans to try a few new things, including investing in stocks for the first time.
He also has plans to travel, with Mexico or Barbados on his list.
Taiwo said he’s excited to enjoy more time with his family and friends, as well.
“It’s amazing.”
The lucky Edmonton man purchased his winning Lotto Max and Extra ticket at Campbell Park Chevron at 40-3 Curial Drive in St. Albert.
He won one of the Maxmillion prizes in the September 17 Lotto Max draw by correctly matching the selections 2, 14, 20, 21, 28, 31, and 42.
