Woman with gunshot wounds found dead; Calgary police call it ‘suspicious’

A woman is dead, and a man with gunshot wounds is in hospital in serious condition Saturday, with Calgary police calling the death “suspicious.”

Officers say they were called to the Foothills Medical Centre at around 6 p.m. regarding two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

When they arrived, the woman was declared dead, while the man remains in serious condition.

An autopsy is expected to be completed on Monday.

Investigators believe the incident happened as the victims were travelling in a vehicle heading westbound on the 32 Avenue overpass at Deerfoot Trail NE.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or dashcam footage to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
