Woman in 70s critically hurt after being run over by own vehicle in SE Calgary

A woman in her 70s is fighting for her life in hospital after she was run over by her own vehicle in a parking lot in southeast Calgary.

Emergency crews responded to a plaza near Deer Ridge Drive SE and Canyon Meadows Drive SE around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a crash.

Police say there was a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot of a Co-op grocery store. A 78-year-old woman got out of her vehicle to assess damage, but the vehicle was left in gear and it rolled over her.

Fire crews provided the woman with basic life support until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition.

No other injuries were reported.

Police say they are not investigating and the scene has been cleared.
