Woman fatally hit by CTrain was trying to cross median: Calgary police

Calgary police continue to investigate a fatal collision involving a CTrain Wednesday, but are now confident the incident was a tragic accident.

Officers were called to the Bridgeland/Memorial CTrain Station around 7 a.m. for reports of an incident on the inbound track.

Investigators now believe a woman between 25 and 35 years old was trying to cross the median about 100 metres east of the station when she entered the path of a westbound train and was hit.

She sustained significant head trauma and was declared dead at the scene, according to police.

The 58-year-old CTrain driver wasn’t hurt in the collision.

Speed or impairment aren’t considered factors.

Anyone who may have witnesses the collision or have dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
