Woman dies in pedestrian-involved collision outside Okotoks

One person has died after a vehicle hit a pair of pedestrians who were out walking near Okotoks Tuesday night.

Just after 8:30 p.m., RCMP responded to the scene at 15 Street, near the Okotoks Badminton Centre.

Investigators believe a vehicle was driving north on 15 Street when it hit two pedestrians walking on the road.

Police say a 52-year-old woman from Eden Valley was declared dead at the scene, while a 25-year-old woman from Okotoks was taken to a Calgary hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Police closed 15 Street between 338 Avenue East and 322 Avenue East until the early morning hours.

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation into the incident continues.
