Woman dead, 8 injured in head-on crash involving bus in southern Alberta

A woman is dead and eight other people are hurt after a head-on crash involving an SUV and passenger bus on an Alberta highway.

Mounties in Crowsnest Pass say the crash happened on Highway 3 near Range Road 25 around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Police say an SUV crossed the center lane of the highway and collided head-on with a passenger bus.

The driver of the SUV, a 44-year-old woman from Fernie, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say there were 27 passengers on the bus and eight were injured, including two who were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
