Sept. 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the victims of residential schools, survivors, and their loved ones.
There are plenty of events happening across Calgary on Monday to mark Orange Shirt Day.
While it is not a statutory holiday in Alberta, it is a holiday for all federal employees. Other employers may choose to give their workers the day off.

BANKS
Banks will be closed on Monday
CALGARY PUBLIC LIBRARY
Calgary Public Library locations will be closed on Monday
CANADA POST
Canada Post locations will be closed on Monday, no mail will be delivered
GROCERY AND LIQUOR
Most grocery stores and liquor stores will be open through the weekend, some may have reduced hours. Check your local store for more details.
Costco locations will be open on Monday.
LEISURE/RECREATION CENTRES
Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square Leisure Centre will be closed on Monday.
Most other Calgary arenas, indoor pools and fitness centres will be closed, or operating on reduced hours on Monday. The hours for each location can be found here.
PARKING
People can park for free in on-street ParkPlus zones, while weekend rates will apply at Calgary Park Authority parkades and surface lots.
Regular parking rates will be in effect at partner lots such as TELUS Spark, Calgary Stampede, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.
SHOPPING MALLS
- CF Chinook Centre – open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- CF Market Mall – open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- CORE Shopping Centre – open 10 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- CrossIron Mills – open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Marlborough Mall – open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Southcentre – open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunridge Mall – open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
TRANSIT
Calgary Transit buses and CTrains will operate on a Saturday level service on Monday.
Starting Saturday, Sept. 28 until the very early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Blue Line will be closed between Saddletowne and Rundle stations. Shuttle buses will provide service between these stations. CTrains in the northeast will be fully back up and running by start of service on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
