Two people are recovering in a Calgary hospital and one person is in custody following an attack at a home in central Alberta, RCMP say.
Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call about a disturbance at a home in Cremona. The person making the call was in Calgary, and told officers there was a man in the house who was attacking two people.
When RCMP arrived, they found an 86-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman who had been seriously hurt and were in medical distress.
Police say a responding officer searched the home and found the suspect in the basement.
There was a brief confrontation before the suspect was arrested without incident, according to RCMP.
Officers then gave first aid to the two people who were injured until paramedics arrived to take them to hospital.
Twenty-nine-year-old Montana Ronquist, of Cremona, is now facing two charges of attempted murder.
He remains in custody and is set to appear in a Calgary courtroom on Wednesday.
Both victims, who police say were severely injured, are still in hospital but expected to survive.
