Thousands of child pornography images found after man drops laptop off for repair at shop, Calgary man arrested and charged

Calgary police have charged a man with possessing and accessing child pornography after employees at a computer repair shop found thousands of disturbing images while working on a laptop.

The investigation began in September, according to police, after a person working at a local repair shop reported an unknown man, believing he was in possession of child pornography.

Police seized the computer, which had at least 3,600 photos of underage children.

On Tuesday, officers searched a home on 20 Avenue SW, where several electronic and storage devices were seized, and one man was arrested.

Fred Allison Bezanson, 73, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, and accessing child pornography.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to go through the significant amount of material seized.
