Police are investigating after an early morning motorcycle crash in the city’s southeast over the weekend that left a teen dead.
Emergency crews were called to 52 Street SE, just south of Glenmore Trail SE, around 4 a.m. Sunday for reports a single-vehicle collision.
Investigators believe a 17-year-old boy was riding a 2005 Honda CBR 600 at high speeds on southbound 52 Street when he lost control. The boy was launched from the bike and hit a light pole.
Police say he died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.
Speed is being investigated as a cause of the crash. Police do not suspect impairment was a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
