Fire crews were forced to shore up a garage in northwest Calgary on Monday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into it and nearly knocked it over.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) tells CityNews crews were called to the back alley of Charlebois Drive around 1:45 p.m. for reports of a crash.
A Calgary fire spokesperson Carol Henke says an SUV accidentally drove into the corner of a garage.
No injuries were reported.
“The garage sustained significant structural damage with the possibility of potential collapse,” says Henke in a statement. “The garage was knocked off its footing and was leaning to one side when fire crews arrived.”
Crews used lumber to build a shoring system to prevent a leaning wall of the garage from toppling over.
Calgary fire says it is a temporary fix before the homeowner makes repairs.
