Suspect sought in NE Pineridge hit-and-run: Calgary police

Calgary police are looking for a suspect in a northeast Pineridge hit-and-run that sent the victim to hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday.

Officers say it happened at around 12:30 p.m. They believe the pedestrian was walking in an alleyway near Pinecliff Park on 26 Avenue when he was approached by an unknown person driving a white Jeep Cherokee.

Then the victim walked in front of the Jeep when the suspect “accelerated suddenly,” striking him before “turning left in a circle and striking a fence.”

Police say the man was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle and driver were not at the scene of the crash. Investigators say speed and alcohol are not factors.

Police ask anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
