Suspect bear sprayed Market Mall store employees then fled: Calgary police

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly bear sprayed mall employees in northwest Calgary last month.

Calgary police say officers were called to CF Market Mall around 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 11 for reports of an assault.

According to police, four people walked into Sport Chek when an employee suspected them of shoplifting and asked them to leave. Police say the group left the store without taking anything.

It is alleged a member of the group returned to the store a short time later and approached the employee who asked them to leave. The man allegedly bear sprayed the employee and another worker before leaving the mall.

The two workers were treated with First Aid but were not transported to hospital.

Investigators have not been able to identify the suspect and have now released photos of him and the vehicle he left in.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall, with a slim build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and dark-coloured pants.

The vehicle is described as a light-grey or silver 2004 to 2006 Buick LaCrosse with rust above the back left wheel.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
