Calgary police continue to investigate a serious crash over the weekend that left a man in his 20s with life-altering injuries.
Emergency crews were called to the southbound lanes of Stoney Trail NW, south of the Bow River, around 3:50 p.m. Saturday for a two-vehicle collision.
Investigators say a white 2020 Ford F-350 was being driven by a man in his 40s, with a man in his 20s as a passenger. The truck was towing a utility trailer and was stopped along the highway.
Police believe the driver and passenger were outside the truck trying re-secure the trailer when a white 2007 Chevrolet Express van being driven by a man in his 40s struck the rear of the trailer, causing it to push forward and trap the man in his 20s.
The trapped man was taken to hospital in critical condition and police now say he suffered life-altering injuries. The other two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police do not believe impairment of excessive speed were factors in the crash.
