Calgary is under a severe thunderstorm warning as a line of storms move their way across the province on Tuesday afternoon.
The warning from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) was issued around 5 p.m. and stretches from Edmonton to Calgary with meteorologists warning of storms producing very strong wind gusts.
“Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles,” reads the warning. “Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.”
The north end of Calgary appears to be getting impacted the hardest as of 6 p.m. with the airport reporting wind gusts near 100 km/h.
The agency issues warning when thunderstorms are imminent or occurring storms are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
