Rocky Ridge YMCA evacuated for 3rd time in less than two weeks

A northwest Calgary YMCA is dealing with a gas leak for the third time in less than two weeks.

Calgary fire crews were dispatched to the Rocky Ridge YMCA around 11 a.m. Friday for reports of an ammonia leak.

In a statement to CityNews, the YMCA says everyone has been safely evacuated from the building.

“There will be plenty of time to look back and find out what happened, but right now we’re focused on making sure everyone is mustered in place,” reads the statement.

The company that supplies ammonia to the YMCA is also on scene.

Around 250 people were evacuated from the facility last Wednesday due to a gas leak in the refrigeration system of the arena. Two days later, the same thing happened.
