Red Line service stopped in NW Calgary due to mechanical issue

CTrain service has come to a halt in parts of northwest Calgary Friday afternoon.

Calgary Transit posted to social media around 11: 30 a.m., saying service on the Red Line is affected because of a catenary issue between Banff Trail and Sunnyside stations.

Those are the overhead wires that power the trains.

Shuttle buses have been brought in to take riders north from Lions Park.

There is no word yet on when service could be restored.
