Police search for man who allegedly asked teen for sex at Calgary rec centre

Police are trying to identify a suspect who allegedly exposed himself and asked a teenager for sex at a recreation centre in Northwest Calgary.

Calgary police say a male youth was in the changeroom at Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre, near Centre Street and 64 Avenue NW, on May 5 when he was allegedly approached by a stranger.

It’s alleged the suspect made “unwanted” sexual comments while exposing himself to the teen victim. Police say the victim ignored the man and left the changeroom shortly after.

It’s further alleged the suspect followed the victim out of the changeroom and sat in the centre’s common area, making more sexual comments as the victim walked by.

The teen reported what happened to his mother, who subsequently reported the incident to police.

CPS have released photos of the suspect and a suspect vehicle and are asking for the public’s help identifying “after exhausting all investigative avenues.”

The suspect is described as a 50 to 65-year-old man with a heavy build and grey or light-coloured short hair. He was last seen wearing an Edmonton Oilers denim jacket, dark-blue polo shirt, dark jeans and glasses.

Investigators believe the suspect was driving a 2007 to 2013 brown or grey Toyota Tundra with a rear topper and an Edmonton Oilers license plate.

Anyone with further information is being urged to contact police.
