Police investigating after woman attacked, knocked out in Fish Creek Park

Police are investigating after getting reports that a woman was attacked and left unconscious in southwest Calgary last week.

Calgary police say a woman was near the Votier’s Flats parking lot in Fish Creek Provincial Park around 5 p.m. Thursday when she heard someone calling for help.

Investigators believe the woman went to respond to the plea and walked off a dirt trail in the area towards a creek bed. It is alleged she was physically attacked by another person and left unconscious.

The woman woke up shortly after and two people who were cycling nearby helped bring her to safety. Police were called to the area and the woman was taken to hospital in stable condition.

“We have exhausted all investigative leads and are now turning to the public for information to help advance this investigation,” reads a Calgary police release.

Anyone who was in that area of Fish Creek park around the time of the incident, or anyone who noticed suspicious activity anywhere in the park, are being urged to contact police.
