Calgary police arrested a man and a woman in the parking lot of a popular shopping mall last month for allegedly breaching court-ordered conditions and engaging in drug trafficking.
Investigators say an investigation into the man began in July after he was “observed conducting activity consistent with drug trafficking throughout the city on several occasions.”
He was arrested in the parking lot of CF Chinook Centre on Macleod Trail SW on July 24.
Officers add a woman who was associated to the man was also arrested in the parking lot.
A white 2011 Infiniti FX35, which police say was used by the suspects was also searched at the time. Investigators seized a loaded Glock 27 .40 calibre handgun, seven rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, approximately 35 grams of crack cocaine, two grams of cocaine, and four cell phones.
Calgary resident Matiop Nyok Okich is charged with possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm, and two counts of breach of a firearm prohibition order.
The 29-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Tsz Kei Amber Ziegler, also of Calgary, is charged with possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm.
The 24-year-old is set to be in court on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
