One rushed to hospital in ‘life-threatening condition’ in Deerfoot crash

One person was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries sustained from a two-car crash on Deerfoot in the city’s southeast Saturday evening.

EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux tells CityNews they responded to reports of a two-vehicle incident on northbound Deefoot Trail near 17 Avenue just after 6 p.m.

Paramedics at the scene say there were two people, the drivers of their respective vehicles.

Brideaux explained that one individual needed “extensive extrication” from their vehicle by the Calgary Fire Department.

They were taken to Foothills Medical Centre in serious and “potentially life-threatening condition.”

He says the other person declined transport after being assessed by paramedics at the scene.
