Man facing charges in string of break-ins at businesses across Calgary

A man is facing more than a dozen charges after a recent string of break and enters at businesses across Calgary over a five-month period.

Calgary police say officers responded to seven commercial break-ins between Nov. 30, 2023 and Apr. 26, 2024. in various neighbourhoods, including Bowness, Brentwood, Highland Park, Midnapore, Westgate and Willow Park.

Investigators say the goods stolen during the robberies include home renovation supplies, construction tools, bicycles, eyeglasses, vapes, liquor and other items.

Police were able to identify a suspect after reviewing security footage. On May 4, officers executed a search warrant at a home near Centre Street and Beddington Boulevard NE where they arrested the suspect and seized a gun, stolen truck and stolen e-bike.

Steven Edward Molnar, 53, of Calgary is facing 18 charges including three counts of break and enter, three counts of possession to stolen property, and six counts of breaching a release order.

The accused is expected to appear in a Calgary courtroom on Tuesday.
