Man dies after rolling truck pins him to tree outside SW Calgary parkade

A man is dead in southwest Calgary after police say he got caught between a tree and his rolling truck outside a parkade Friday.

Officers say they responded to the collision at a parkade entrance in the 200 block of Village Terrace just before 6 p.m.

They say a man in his 70s exited a Ford F-150 truck after stopping at the security garage door, when it began to roll backwards, catching the man in the open door.

Police say the truck kept rolling until it crashed into a tree, leading the car door to pin the driver to the tree. He died of his injuries.

Investigators believe speed, alcohol, and drugs are not considered factors, adding the incident is still being investigated.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
