Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a toddler in southeast Calgary a year-and-a-half ago.
Calgary police say officers were called to a home on Bannister Manor SE, near Bannister Road and 146 Avenue SE, in the early morning hours of Sept. 29 for reports of a toddler in distress.
A two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with critical injuries where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Olivia Hayden from Calgary.
The death was deemed a homicide after an autopsy was completed, according to CPS.
Police arrested man on Wednesday following “an extensive investigation” by the Homicide Unit.
“Manslaughter charges are pending,” reads a police release. “After the man has been formally charged his name will be publicly released.”
Investigators say the suspect and victim were known to each other.
