Group stole $6K in clothes, goods from Calgary Lululemon store

Four people are facing charges after allegedly shoplifting thousands of dollars from a clothing store in Calgary’s Mission neighbourhood last week.

Calgary police say they were called to a Lululemon store near 4 Street and 23 Avenue SW around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday after getting reports of people leaving the store with clothing and merchandise without paying.

Investigators say four people walked in the store and grabbed more than $6,000 worth of clothes and other items before walking out.

Witnesses who saw the group drive away were able to describe their vehicle to officers and police later found it parked outside a home in Bridgeland. Officers searched the home and arrested five people who were inside.

Police later learned one of the five was not involved in the theft and they were released.

The stolen items were returned to the store.

“We would like to thank the witnesses who provided key information that led to the quick arrest of these individuals and recovery of the merchandise,” says CPS District 1 Staff Sgt. Paul Ralstin in a statement. “While retail crime can seem victimless, it has a real impact on business owners and the overall sense of safety within our community.”

Calgary police say 30-year-old Chantelle Bearheat, 41-year-old Mirando Nashcappo, 20-year-old Nicolas Wolfear and 46-year-old Gilbert Peeace are each charged with one count of theft over $5,000. Nashcappo and Wolfear are facing additional charges for breaching conditions.
